The 2020 Hyundai Palisade has just been revealed in Los Angeles, and it’s coming to the UAE to take its place as the brand’s flagship SUV in the region…
And you thought the Grand Santa Fe was big – the new Hyundai Palisade eight-seater SUV just revealed at the Los Angeles motor show is the biggest SUV by the Korean manufacturer ever, and it’s coming to the UAE next year as a 2020 model to head the local line-up.
Compared to rivals such as the Honda Pilot and Toyota Fortuner, the Palisade is bigger by a couple of inches, but then again it’s also slightly shorter than the new Volkswagen Teramont and ditto the Nissan Pathfinder and for Explorer. However the Hyundai has the longest wheelbase in class which is supposed to be of the three-seater’s draws.
The Korean company also claims the 2020 Hyundai Palisade is first-in-class for both headroom and legroom, and near the top of the list for total cargo capacity with a cabin that can swallow nearly 1,300 litres with the seats folded flat.
Hyundai also makes big claims for what’s under the Palisade’s bonnet, because the SUV’s 3.8-litre V6 makes 291 horsepower at 6,000rpm and 355Nm of torque at 5,000rpm, and again this puts the Hyundai near the top of the segment if not the very top. An eight-speed automatic transmission is another boast.
With all-wheel drive as standard, Hyundai’s new SUV flagship will come to the Middle East market featuring variable torque control, and driving modes including Sport. Since this is Hyundai we’re talking about the car is also crammed full of kit, so standard equipment includes forward collision warning and traffic monitoring systems, plus adaptive cruise control and lane guidance features.
The driver gets a 12.3-inch instrument cluster and 10.25-inch infotainment display to play with, and big families will appreciate the seven USB outlets all over the place, plus a total of no less than 16 cupholders so there’s hardly a need to throw out your used karak cups.
Considering a loaded Grand Santa Fe costs around AED150,000 in the region, you can get an idea of the Palisade’s positioning when it arrives so expect to pay AED170,000 or thereabouts for Hyundai’s new eight-seater.
