The new 2019 Honda HR-V enters the toughest segment in the UAE – we drive one to see how it fares as the latest compact crossover on the market
You’d expect a stir when a new Honda lands in the UAE, and the company’s latest entry into the compact crossover segment has shaken things up quite a bit. It’s a cutthroat market out there with Kias, Mazdas, Renaults, Nissans, Fords, Hyundais, and the lot, all vying for the same crossover customers.
For its first compact crossover in the UAE, Honda has decided to introduce the 2019 HR-V model across the nation available in three grades – the DX, LX and top-of-the-range EX which we’re testing here. The best way to think of the new HR-V is to imagine a slightly smaller CR-V, and you wouldn’t be far off. All the ‘big car’ kit is present, such as a panoramic sunroof, 17-inch wheels, LEDs, as well as a touchscreen infotainment system.
The 2019 Honda HR-V EX features a seven-speed automatic transmission, with a responsive engine producing 140 horsepower at 6,500rpm and 172Nm of torque at 4,300rpm. Besides all the go, the 1.8-litre four-cylinder is developed to operate efficiently and save you fuel at the pumps.
That’s the short of it anyway, and for the full verdict on the new 2019 Honda HR-V you can cut right to it and watch our video below.
