If you need to go really fast you need to call Molsheim – the new Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+ just went nearly 500 kilometres per hour…
Bugatti recently smashed the elusive 300mph (483km/h) barrier leaving the rest of the hypercar world scraping the remnants of its collective jaws off the floor. And now, the company has revealed that the production version of the mental Bugatti Chiron derivative will be called Super Sport 300+.
Just like the record-setting pre-production car, the Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+ has a more aero-efficient bodywork. It’s powered by the same 8.0-litre, quad-turbo W16 engine, which makes a whopping 1,578 horsepower in this state of tune. It also gets a longer ratio gearbox enabling it to hit the v-max of 483km/h.
While there are several head-spinning numbers associated with the Chiron Super Sport 300+, none are as astronomical as the price tag. Ready for it? Here we go: it costs a staggering AED19,000,000! However, money alone will not be enough to guarantee you an entry into this exclusive club, because Bugatti is only building 30 Super Sport 300+ and apparently there is already keen interest from current Bugatti owners. However, the customers who are on Bugatti’s 110th-anniversary tour will get preference.
Interestingly, despite the cranium-compressing velocity, the Chiron Super Sport 300+ will have standard seats draped in sumptuous leather, instead of racing buckets with four-point racing harnesses. It doesn’t have a roll cage either, unlike other faux road racers, however, it might be possible to fix one, if you so wish. The ride height has also been raised to allow owners to drive their cars on, er, actual roads, while a speed limiter will likely be added in the production version, although it’s not clear at what speed will it be capped. However, customers will likely be able to get the speed limiter removed.
Looks-wise it’s not markedly different from the ‘standard’ Chiron and continues in the tradition of previous Super Sports Bugattis with a black and orange paint scheme. That said, customers can spec their Chiron Super Sport 300+ in whatever colour they like.
If you’ve got 19 mil sloshing about in your bank account, we can’t think of a better use for the money.
