Jeep India has introduced the two-wheel-drive variants of the diesel version of the Compass, equipped with an automatic gearbox. Priced at Rs. 23.99 lakh (ex-showroom), this SUV comes with minor cosmetic updates, including a newly designed grille section and all-new alloy wheels. This release comes after a mid-life update by the American manufacturer two years ago.
The Jeep Compass, along with the Meridian, has experienced a decline in sales numbers recently. With the revised 2023 Jeep Compass, the company aims to revive its sales volume. The SUV is now available in five trim levels: Sport, Longitude, Longitude+, Limited, and Model S. The base variant starts at Rs. 20.49 lakh (ex-showroom).
The Compass is only available with a diesel engine, paired with a six-speed manual transmission. However, the new Jeep Compass Longitude variant offers a two-wheel-drive manual or a nine-speed automatic transmission option, making it the most affordable choice among the automatic portfolio. This variant is priced at Rs. 23.99 lakh (ex-showroom).
The updated Compass range also brings forth various enhancements depending on the trim level. The Longitude+ trim receives a wireless smartphone charger and a dual-pane sunroof. On the other hand, a sporty appeal is added to the new Compass Limited with the introduction of a Black Shark edition, featuring black finished alloy wheels, contrast red highlights, and a black-themed cabin.
The top-of-the-line 2023 Jeep Compass S trim comes with a two-wheel-drive configuration, coupled with an automatic transmission. This trim also offers four-wheel-drive options and features a new chrome-finished front grille. In addition to the Compass, the Jeep Meridian Overland Edition receives similar updates, including a new grille and alloy wheels, along with a copper-themed interior.
Under the hood, the 2.0L four-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine of the Compass delivers a maximum power of 170 PS and a peak torque of 350 Nm.
With the introduction of two-wheel-drive variants and automatic transmission options, along with the refreshed exterior design, the Jeep Compass aims to attract more customers and regain its position in the market.
