TE Connectivity and AVIVA Links have joined forces to develop a long-reach Automotive SerDes Alliance (ASA) solution for ultra-high resolution sensors and displays in autonomous and connected vehicles. With the increasing need to move large amounts of data at higher speeds, this collaboration aims to provide standards-based advanced connectivity solutions for the development of the latest generation of software-defined vehicles.

The new solution supports data rates up to 16 Gbps per lane over distances of more than 10 meters of STP cable and 15 meters of coaxial cable. This allows for real-time transmission of high-bandwidth video and data for the cameras, sensors, lidar, and radar systems that are vital to autonomous technology. The collaboration combines AVIVA’s Quad Port device, the industry’s first ASA-based chipset delivering an aggregate throughput of approximately 64 Gbps, with TE’s coaxial MATE-AX connector portfolio.
