BMW Confirms All-Electric Version of Next-Generation M3 Sedan for 2027

BMW has officially announced that the next-generation BMW M3 performance sedan will be available in both all-electric and fossil fuel-powered variants. The highly anticipated all-electric BMW M3 will be based on the Vision Neue Klasse concept, which was unveiled at the IAA 2023 event. This development aligns with BMW’s vision for the future of electric vehicles.

The Vision Neue Klasse concept is a preview of BMW’s upcoming electric cars. Initially showcased as an electric sedan, it was expected that the concept would pave the way for an all-electric 3 Series in the near future. BMW has now confirmed that the first electric vehicle based on the Vision Neue Klasse will be the next-generation BMW M3 sedan set to launch in 2027.

According to reports, the next-generation BMW M3 could feature a powerful electric powertrain generating up to 1,341bhp. This electric powertrain is said to consist of four electric motors, with each motor powering one wheel. Despite being an all-electric vehicle, BMW promises that the performance of the electric M3 will be on par with its traditionally fueled sibling.

BMW’s product development chief, Frank Weber, emphasized that the company will not abandon internal combustion engines entirely. He stated that the next-generation BMW M3 will also be available with a fossil fuel-burning engine that meets the Euro-7 emission standards. Weber emphasized the coexistence of different powertrain options in the market, as it is essential to cater to the diverse needs and preferences of customers.

With the introduction of an all-electric version, BMW expands its commitment to sustainable mobility while still acknowledging the demand for conventional internal combustion engines. The next-generation BMW M3, available in both all-electric and fossil fuel-powered versions, is poised to offer thrilling performance and environmentally conscious driving options for customers in 2027.
