ALCOHOL Retailer Dan Murphy’s Expands EV Charging Outlets at Stores

Retailer Dan Murphy’s, owned by Endeavour Group and majority owned by Woolworths, is expanding its electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure at its stores. The company has opened EV charging stations at four of its stores and is completing a fifth at Broadmeadows in Victoria. The Broadmeadows store will have two 75kW fast chargers supplied and installed by Evie Networks.

Dan Murphy’s Managing Director, Agnieszka Pfeiffer-Smith, expressed excitement about the initiative. Pfeiffer-Smith stated, “We plan on introducing more stations over the next 12 months as part of our role to help provide eco-friendly solutions for a healthier planet.” The retailer also shared encouraging data on EV charging usage at its live sites, with nearly 1,500 charging sessions by 650 unique drivers over the past six months.

The partnership between Evie Networks and Dan Murphy’s aims to address concerns about “range anxiety” among motorists transitioning to electric vehicles. Evie Networks, founded in 2017, seeks to build Australia’s largest EV fast charging network and currently has 150 charging locations across the country.

This commitment from Dan Murphy’s to expand EV charging infrastructure demonstrates a growing trend of businesses recognizing the importance of supporting sustainable transportation options. By offering EV charging facilities, Dan Murphy’s can attract and cater to environmentally conscious customers who own electric vehicles. The availability of charging stations while customers shop enhances convenience and helps alleviate concerns about EV range limitations.

As the EV market continues to grow, the partnership between Dan Murphy’s and Evie Networks showcases the potential for collaboration between retailers and charging network providers to facilitate the widespread adoption of electric vehicles in Australia.
