New EV Chargepoint Operator, DC Handal, Emerges with KemPower Chargers

We have spotted the emergence of a new EV charge point operator (CPO) called DC Handal, as evidenced by the construction of KemPower DC chargers at UOA Business Park Glenmarie. This new location is one of four in the Klang Valley, with other sites found at Wisma MCA KL, The Vertical Bangsar South, and Bamboo Hills.

DC Handal appears to be a subsidiary of Handal Indah, a bus provider in Johor. The company has a history of expressing interest in green mobility, having previously signed an MOU with Petronas Gentari for the establishment of an EV bus charging network. Now, it seems they are venturing into the end-user CPO market.

KemPower chargers have been used by Gentari at Bangi Golf Resort and Petronas KLIA, as well as ChargEV at Berjaya Times Square. At the UOA Business Park location, the chargers are located on the ground floor for easy access, but the actual charging hardware is connected one level down at B1.

It is worth noting that many of DC Handal’s locations are related to UOA, a property developer. In addition to this UOA Business Park location, the company also operates charging points at UOA-owned properties in different areas. Furthermore, there is another DC Handal location in Johor, specifically at the Handal Indah HQ, which is marked as restricted/employees only.

DC Handal’s entry into the EV charging market further expands the charging infrastructure in Malaysia, providing EV owners with additional charging options. As the adoption of electric vehicles continues to grow, an increased number of CPOs will be necessary to meet the charging needs of EV users across the country.
