Turkish President Urges Elon Musk to Build Tesla Factory in Turkey

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has reportedly asked Tesla CEO Elon Musk to consider building a Tesla factory in Turkey. The request was made during a meeting at Turkish House, located near the United Nations in New York. Musk is currently in discussions with world leaders, including Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, to address the advancement of artificial intelligence technology.

Erdogan’s proposition comes after Tesla expressed interest in establishing a factory in India to produce low-cost electric vehicles (EVs). With six factories already in operation and a seventh underway in Mexico, Tesla aims to further expand its global presence. Musk previously mentioned that the company would likely select a location for a new factory by the end of this year.

While Tesla shares have surged by 123% this year, and the automaker recently celebrated the production of its 5 millionth car, both Tesla and the Turkish embassy in Washington have yet to comment on Erdogan’s appeal. It remains to be seen if this request will bear fruition and contribute to Tesla’s ongoing expansion efforts.
