Stellantis, the parent company behind popular automotive brands like Jeep, Dodge, Ram, Fiat, and Chrysler, is gearing up for a major electric vehicle (EV) push. As part of its Dare Forward 2030 strategy, the company aims to have 50% of its total US sales and 100% of its sales in Europe come from electric vehicles by 2030. To kickstart this EV campaign, Stellantis plans to release several new all-electric vehicles in 2024.
Fiat will lead the charge with the launch of its new 500e, which is already a top-selling electric car in Europe. Stellantis CEO Oliver Francois believes it has the potential to make a mark in the US market as well. Ram, known for its powerful pickup trucks, will introduce the Ram 1500 REV electric pickup to take on competitors like Ford’s F-150 Lightning and the upcoming Chevy Silverado EV. Ram CEO Carlos Tavares promises that their electric truck will outperform all its rivals in areas like range, towing capacity, payload, and charge time.
Dodge, famous for its muscle cars, will also join the EV era with the Charger Daytona SRT Concept, showcasing new patent-pending features that aim to outperform the brand’s legendary Hellcat engine. Jeep, known for its rugged SUVs, will launch its first electric vehicles in the US next year, including the Recon and Wagoneer S models. The Recon, inspired by the Jeep Wrangler, is a rugged and fully capable electric SUV designed for off-road enthusiasts. The Wagoneer S, on the other hand, is a premium electric SUV boasting a range of 400 miles, 600 horsepower, and a quick acceleration of around 3.5 seconds from 0 to 60 mph.
Looking ahead, other Stellantis brands like Chrysler have plans to release their first all-electric models in the coming years. Ram is expected to introduce a smaller electric pickup, while Dodge has an electric crossover in the works. Furthermore, there are rumors of a four-door electric Charger and an electric upgrade for the iconic Challenger.
Stellantis’ ambitious EV offensive shows its commitment to transitioning to electric mobility and keeping up with the growing demand for sustainable transportation options. With the introduction of these new electric models, Stellantis aims to make a significant impact in the EV market and contribute to a greener future for the automotive industry.
