Jeep India Introduces Black Shark Variant of Compass with Cosmetic Upgrades

Jeep India has launched a new variant of its popular Compass SUV in the Indian market. The Black Shark trim is based on the Limited trim of the Compass and offers cosmetic upgrades to enhance its overall appeal. Priced at ₹26.49 lakh ex-showroom, the Compass Black Shark aims to attract customers looking for a stylish and unique SUV.

One of the noticeable changes on the Compass Black Shark is the new badge on the front fender that says “Black Shark,” featuring a picture of a black shark and Jeep branding below it. The SUV is available in seven different color schemes including Brilliant Black, Techno Metallic Green, Pearl White, Red, Magnesio Grey, Silvery Moon, and Galaxy Blue.

In terms of design, the Compass Black Shark features black-finished badges, side cladding, and belt line, giving it a sporty and aggressive look. The exterior also includes blacked-out elements on the front bumper and blacked-out 18-inch alloy wheels, adding to its overall appeal.

Inside the cabin, the Compass Black Shark comes with an all-black theme with red accents, creating a premium and sporty ambiance. The interior features black leatherette seats, offering a comfortable and luxurious experience for occupants. The SUV is equipped with a 10.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system, running on Jeep’s UConnect 5 user interface, which includes wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay functionality.

Under the hood, the Compass Black Shark is powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged diesel engine, delivering a maximum power of 168 bhp and peak torque of 350 Nm. It is mated to a 9-speed torque converter automatic transmission, which drives the front wheels.

In terms of safety and convenience features, the Compass Black Shark offers electronic parking brake, adaptive brake lights, connectivity features, wireless charger, dual-zone climate control, remote keyless entry, push button start/stop, cruise control, and much more. Safety features include traction control, electronic stability control, anti-lock braking system, rear parking camera with sensors, six airbags, and a tyre pressure monitoring system.

While the Black Shark trim misses out on the fully digital instrument cluster found on the top-end S trim, it still provides a digital TFT screen between the analogue speedometer and tachometer to display various information to the driver.

Overall, the Jeep Compass Black Shark variant offers a blend of style, performance, and convenience, making it an attractive choice for SUV enthusiasts in the Indian market.
