Kia Unveils New EV Concepts at LA Auto Show

Kia has taken the stage at the LA Auto Show to reveal its latest electric vehicle (EV) concepts, the EV3 small SUV and EV4 sedan. These new additions to Kia’s EV lineup showcase the company’s commitment to sustainable materials and innovative design.

While not many specific details were provided in the press release, Kia describes these concepts as “material-driven,” incorporating sustainable materials such as bio-plastic and leather substitutes, recycled fabrics, and BTX-free paint. These choices reflect Kia’s dedication to environmental responsibility and reducing the carbon footprint of its vehicles.

The EV3 concept draws inspiration from the larger EV9 three-row SUV and features a geometric exterior design with squared-off wheel arches, giving it a boxy appearance. Inside, the cabin offers a minimalist approach, reminiscent of the Hyundai Ioniq 5, which shares the same platform as the EV3. Natural fibers are used in the seats, and the center armrest doubles as a table with multiple modes for different activities.

On the other hand, the EV4 concept presents a sportier aesthetic with a low nose, long tail, and a small spoiler at the rear. This “new type of EV sedan” also follows the boxy design language seen in the EV3 and EV9. The interior of the EV4 showcases recycled cotton and handwoven fabric stripes, adding a unique texture to the dashboard and cargo area. A slide-out touchscreen controls the heating and air conditioning system.

Although these concepts are still in the early stages, Kia’s track record suggests that they may eventually make it to production. The EV9, previously unveiled as a concept at the 2021 LA Auto Show, is set to hit the roads soon. If the timeline holds, we can expect to see the EV3 and EV4 as part of Kia’s 2026 model year lineup.

Kia’s focus on sustainable materials and forward-thinking design resonates with the environmentally conscious California market, making the LA Auto Show an ideal platform to gauge interest in these potential additions to the Kia EV family. As automotive enthusiasts eagerly await more information, Kia continues to pave the way for a greener and smarter future in the world of electric vehicles.
