Love’s Travel Stops & Country Stores has been awarded $4.8 million in federal funding to build electric vehicle (EV) charging stations at eight locations. The funding comes from the Federal Highway Administration’s National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Formula Program, which aims to establish an EV charging infrastructure network in Pennsylvania and Colorado.
The partnership between Love’s and Trillium Energy Solutions was chosen as part of the investment to support the widescale adoption of EVs. Love’s Travel Stops, with over 640 locations nationwide, is well-positioned to assist transportation departments in implementing the NEVI program state by state.
The NEVI program, established by the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, provides $5 billion over five years for states to deploy direct current EV chargers along highway corridors. The ultimate goal is to create a national system of EV chargers. Trillium Energy Solutions, known for designing, building, and maintaining clean-fueling stations, is an integral part of this endeavor.
The funding allocation includes $2.6 million for Pennsylvania, which will install EV chargers at four locations in Slippery Rock, Mifflinville, Brookville, and Jonestown. In Colorado, the Colorado Energy Office and Colorado Department of Transportation are investing $2.2 million to build EV chargers at existing stations in Buena Vista, Eads, Parachute, and Hudson.
With this federal funding, Love’s Travel Stops aims to contribute to the expansion of the EV charging infrastructure and support the increasing adoption of electric vehicles across the country.
