Mercedes-Benz is expanding its electric vehicle portfolio in India with the launch of the EQE electric SUV. This new electric SUV, based on the brand’s EVA platform, joins the EQS and EQB electric vehicles already offered in India by the German automaker.
The design of the EQE SUV takes inspiration from other EQ models in the Mercedes-Benz lineup. Its rounded surfaces and coupe-like roofline contribute to a lower drag coefficient, improving the vehicle’s range. The front grille features a black panel with tiny stars, while the headlights are connected by a light strip. The flush-fitting door handles and aerodynamic alloy wheels further enhance the SUV’s efficiency.
In terms of powertrain, the EQE SUV will be offered with a 90.6kWh battery pack, supporting fast charging speeds of up to 170kW. In India, it will initially be available in the 500 4MATIC variant, which features a dual-motor layout producing 858 Nm of torque. The claimed range exceeds 400 kilometers.
Inside the EQE SUV, drivers will find the brand’s MBUX Hyperscreen, a wide display that spans the width of the dashboard. It incorporates a 12.3-inch touchscreen for the front passenger. The SUV will also offer optional features like a Burmester sound system, power front seats, four-zone climate control, and a panoramic sunroof. Safety features include a 360-degree camera, ABS with EBD, lane keep assist, autonomous emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, and park assist.
The EQE SUV is expected to be priced at Rs 1.40 crore (ex-showroom) in India and will compete against electric SUVs like the BMW iX, Jaguar i-Pace, and Audi Q8 e-tron.
