Scotland-based Munro Vehicles has released the ‘Mountain Rescue’ special edition of its MK_1 electric truck. Designed specifically for first responders in remote and challenging areas, the 4×4 vehicle features roof-mounted blue lights, an enclosed space large enough to fit a stretcher, and room for four passengers and their gear. Munro Vehicles, Scotland’s only mass-production car manufacturer, launched its first product, the MK_1, in December. The electric truck is hailed as the world’s most capable all-electric 4×4.
The Munro MK_1 is characterized by its angular design and raised stance, giving it a rugged appearance. The vehicle boasts impressive approach and departure angles, with a short front overhang that allows for a vertical approach. The Munro is powered by a mid-mounted electric motor, providing a 50:50 weight distribution and a reduction in weight and space. The electric motor delivers 220 kW (295 hp) and 600 Nm (443 lb-ft) of torque, with an alternative motor available for higher-performance models.
In addition to its off-road capabilities, the Munro offers three trim levels – Utility, Range, and Performance. Prices start at £59,994 ($74,443), with the high-end version starting at £83,994 ($104,223). The vehicle features a modular battery pack, with a maximum DC charge rate of 94 kW and a range varying between 85.5 miles and 190 miles, depending on the motor and battery configuration. With a projected lifetime of 50 years, the Munro MK_1 is built to withstand the test of time.
Overall, Munro Vehicles’ all-electric Mountain Rescue truck showcases Scotland’s contribution to the electric vehicle industry, offering a capable and durable option for first responders in challenging terrains.
