Tata has recently launched the highly anticipated facelift of its Nexon EV, making it the first major update since its initial release. This new version of the Nexon EV showcases a comprehensive redesign both inside and out, and introduces several innovative features and equipment. Let’s delve into the finer details of the 2023 Nexon EV facelift.
Drawing inspiration from the Curvv Concept, the updated Nexon EV boasts a stunning design that sets it apart from its predecessor. One notable change is the sleek LED strip that connects across the front of the vehicle. Additionally, the LED strips at the front and rear now feature a captivating lightning sequence for welcome and goodbye gestures. To enhance aerodynamics, the bumper includes air vents on either side, contributing to a two percent increase in the vehicle’s range.
On the side, the Nexon EV retains its distinctive C-pillar and maintains a ground clearance of 205mm. The 16-inch aero alloy wheels are now fitted with EV-specific tires that offer lower rolling resistance, further optimizing the vehicle’s performance. At the rear, the tail lamps connect in the middle and incorporate a sharp crease with a smoked black design. The rear wipers are cleverly concealed within the roof-mounted spoiler. The Nexon EV is available in seven different color options, allowing buyers to choose based on their preferences and variant selection.
Inside the cabin, the Nexon EV receives a stunning makeover. The highlight is the new 12.3-inch touchscreen display, exclusively developed for the Nexon EV and sourced from Harman. The touchscreen provides excellent touch response, intuitive menus, and a user-friendly interface. A notable addition is the Arcade feature, which functions as an app suite similar to a Play Store, offering the option to download various apps including OTT apps for streaming movies, shows, and music. However, it’s important to note that streaming content is only accessible when the vehicle is stationary. The display quality is exceptional, complemented by a JBL nine-speaker sound system, providing an immersive audio experience. Although the system requires a Wi-Fi hotspot as it lacks built-in internet connectivity, the overall multimedia experience is top-notch.
The updated Nexon EV retains its original underpinnings but incorporates Gen 2 motors. These motors are 20kgs lighter than their predecessors and boast an improved energy consumption algorithm. This advancement is a result of data collected from various Tata EVs on the road. The iVBAC (integrated vehicle braking and regenerative braking) system has also seen improvements, further enhancing overall range. The regen controls are now conveniently located on paddle shifters positioned behind the steering wheel.
A key addition to the Nexon EV is the inclusion of vehicle-to-load and vehicle-to-vehicle charging systems. The former allows users to charge home appliances using the Nexon EV’s power, while the latter enables the vehicle to charge other electric vehicles.
The 2023 Nexon EV facelift is now available in India, with prices ranging from Rs. 14.74 lakh for the base variant to Rs. 19.94 lakh (ex-showroom) for the top-spec variant. The Nexon EV lineup offers six variants to choose from, including Creative+, Fearless, Fearless+, Fearless+ S, Empowered, and Empowered+.
Overall, the revamped Nexon EV offers an impressive blend of stunning design, advanced features, and improved performance, making it an attractive option in the electric vehicle market.
