Tata’s Upcoming Electric Vehicle Lineup: Harrier EV, Punch EV, and Curvv EV

Tata Motors, currently dominating the Indian 4-wheeler electric vehicle (EV) market with a 68.7% market share, has plans to launch three new EVs by the end of 2024. Let’s take a closer look at the details of each upcoming model.

Tata Harrier EV

The Harrier EV, slated to be launched in the first half of next year, is expected to carry a price tag of over Rs.23 lakh. Inspired by the Curvv concept, the Harrier EV will feature a sleek LED daytime running light (DRL) running across the front fascia and lower-placed split LED headlamps. The taillights will also receive the LED treatment, resembling the design seen on the updated Nexon EV.

Inside, the Harrier EV is expected to retain the same spacious 5-seater layout as its diesel-powered counterpart, including premium features like a panoramic sunroof and advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS). The vehicle will come equipped with a 12-inch touchscreen infotainment unit and an all-digital instrument cluster, similar to the updated Nexon EV.

Although details about the battery pack are still unknown, the Harrier EV is anticipated to have a range of approximately 500-550 km on a single charge. The vehicle will be built on Tata’s Gen2 architecture platform and is likely to feature a front-wheel-drive configuration with the potential for an all-wheel drive setup.

Tata Punch EV

The Punch EV, expected to be launched in October 2023, is likely to have a price range of Rs.10-12 lakh. The exterior design modifications will be minimal, featuring a closed-off grille and an EV badge similar to the design elements found on the Tiago/Tigor EV. The DRL, headlamp design, LED taillights, flared-out arches, and integrated spoiler are expected to remain the same.

Inside, the Punch EV will retain the popular design of its ICE version, with the gear lever replaced by a rotary dial. The vehicle is expected to share its battery packs and motors with the Tiago EV. The smaller battery pack, combined with an electric motor, will deliver 61PS of power and 110Nm of torque, while the larger battery pack will offer 75PS of power and 114Nm of torque.

Tata Curvv EV

The Tata Curvv EV, anticipated to be launched next year, is projected to have a price range of Rs.15-20 lakh. With a modern and upmarket design, the Curvv EV combines elements from the previous Nexon with a radical styling approach. It features a sleek LED DRL as a horizontal bar on the front, split LED headlamps, a sloping coupe-like roofline, and a thin connected LED taillight.

The interior of the Curvv EV boasts a minimalist and sleek design, including a panoramic sunroof, a two-spoke flat-bottom steering wheel, dual-tone interiors, touch-sensitive HVAC controls, a large floating touchscreen infotainment unit, and a fully digital instrument cluster. The vehicle offers different drive modes and a rotary dial for transmission.

While specific details about the battery pack and motor for the Curvv EV are not yet available, it is expected to provide a driving range of 450-500 km on a single charge.

Tata Motors is set to expand its electric vehicle lineup with the Harrier EV, Punch EV, and Curvv EV. With these upcoming models, Tata aims to maintain its dominance in the Indian EV market and provide consumers with more choices for sustainable mobility.
